Deb is an artist, a Lowcountry Master Naturalist, and a retired Beaufort Middle School arts integrated life science teacher. She uses clay, metal, glass, wood, and textiles to combine her three passions---nature, art, and education when creating original works of art. Deb’s studio overlooks the tidal creeks of Saint Helena Island, South Carolina. Whether it be while walking the beach or paddling along the creeks it is here that she is inspired to create many forms of functional original art. The colors and flow of the glazes reflect the movement in the ebb and flow of the tide while the exquisitely detailed flora and fauna capture the organic beauty found in salt marsh life.
Each stoneware piece is unique. No patterns are used in the creation of these pieces. They are hand built and textured to enhance the nuances of the clay while the glazes capture the constant flow of colors. Truly one of a kind Lowcountry inspired art.
